Go African Adventures is a new tour operator on the block, based in Johannesburg, in the quiet streets of Linden. Sarah Dorey is the owner, with a good few years in the travel industry, it was time to pursue her own business and mix her passion with the destinations that are on offer. Dealing directly with the lodges and dealing directly with the general public are what sets Go African Adventures apart from everyone else. With quick turn around times and constant communication, Go African Adventures will go out of their way to make your holiday a memorable one.
When you think of Go African Adventures, bush, adventure, and photography must come to mind, with different experiences on hand at each of the destinations being offered.
What are the destinations offered by Go African Adventures? Below is a briefing of what’s on offer.
South Africa – Local travel is huge at the moment, with the lodges in South Africa coming together and dropping their rates for all to benefit. Unique experiences here would be turtle tracking in the area of Maputaland from End of October to mid November. You will be taken on a guided turtle tracking expedition in the evening to watch the leatherback and loggerhead turtles lay their eggs. Another unique experience is in the Western Cape at Kagga Kamma in the Cederberg Mountains, the suites are built into the rocks to give it a natural look in a beautiful setting. Birding is amazing from November to March, Go African Adventures can put together a birding itinerary to include Ghost Mountain Inn, located near Pongolapoort Nature Reserve in Northern KwaZulu Natal. This unique area has your big 5 too. Moving off to the Limpopo Province, Limpokwena is situated in a beautiful area on the river. This beautiful self catering lodge is perfect family getaway, fishing, birding and game drives are on offer.
Botswana – The first thing that I think of is the Okavango Delta, amazing wildlife sightings and phenomenal birding. Getting around is easy, the roads are in pretty good condition, however you will need a 4×4 if you are self driving. The game reserves will not allow you in without a 4×4. It is best to travel in a convoy as the sand is thick and getting stuck is inevitable. Travelling to Kubu Island is recommended in a convoy, avoid the wet season as the pan turns to thick sticky mud. Itineraries can be put together here, whether self drive or fly in. There are many lodges and things to do to suit everyone’s budget. Mobile camping is big in Botswana, Go African Adventures has teamed up with a guide in Botswana to offer you mobile camping. Don’t forget that you can witness the zebra migration from November onwards. Go African Adventures has packages that includes witnessing the migration from the ground as well as from the air, a helicopter flight over Makgadikgadi Pan. Whats unique here is that your helicopter has no doors, this makes photographing the migration on the next level. Unfortunately the borders remain closed until further notice, maybe to even March 2021.
Zimbabwe – When you hear of Zimbabwe, you think Victoria Falls, but there is more to Zimbabwe than Victoria Falls. Hwange National Park, Lake Kariba and Mana Pools are all places one must visit. Unique experiences are offered here from walking safaris, fishing, boating, game drives and bird watching. The borders are open so why not book your next adventure with Go African Adventures. Covid testing has to be done in either Victoria Falls or Harare. Please keep in mind that you will need to be tested prior to departing Zimbabwe, when planning your itinerary make sure you have enough time to get tested and receive your results prior to departure.
Zambia – Zambia is wild with fairly good infrastructure to get from one place to another. Top places to visit here are Kafue National Park – include on your list Busanga Plains, this is where Swamp Lions was filmed. During the wet season it does become water logged some of the lodges do close during this time too. Lower Zambezi – activities here are fishing, boating and game drives. Beautiful sunsets are witnessed over the Zambezi River. Kasanka National Park is where the bat migration takes place from end of October to mid November. This is a must see. 10 million fruit bats are seen in the early morning and late afternoon. South Luangwa is leopard paradise. The animals here are in their abundance. Camps are unfenced welcoming the elephants with spectacular sights. Getting around can be tricky especially in the wet season if you are hiring a 4×4. Roads become impassable and waterlogged. One can fly from the main hub Lusaka to just about any where in Zambia. The borders are open and welcome guests. Zambia is said to be one of the safest destinations to visit during this pandemic. Please check with Go African Adventures when it comes to covid testing.
Kenya – There is more to Kenya than just the great migration, there are smaller reserves which offer unique experiences in themselves. The Masai Maara will show you how they hunt and interact with you while showing off their Masai dance. Photography in Kenya is all you will ever want. Over 500 species of birds, the great migration crossing the river, beautiful sightings of the wildlife, it truly is a special place to witness one of the most amazing things to happen on earth. Kenya Borders are open and welcome you. Please check with regards to the Covid testing prior to departure and exiting Kenya.
Tanzania – Tanzania has it all. The great migration, the calving season, beautiful lakes, craters and the people are magical. Photography is just amazing, the landscapes are never ending, beautiful sunsets and the sounds of the African Bush. It is wild, animals roam free. The borders are open contact Go African Adventures for further information on the Covid testing policy.
